Frequently Asked Questions

We hope to answer some of your major questions and concerns on this page.

How do I start?

The easiest way is to just turn up, pay for the session and train to see whether you like it. Alternatively you can always come in to see us and have a chat. This is best done either before or after a session or even on an arranged time on a Sunday when we have more free time.

Are you insured?

We are insured through 1st4sport for public liability and professional indemnity.

Is the instructor DBS checked?

Yes as an ex school teacher the instructor has an enhanced DBS which is kept undated online through the governments subscription service.

Do you offer free taster sessions?

We do promotional offers every so often for certain months which will appear on this website. We don't offer free taster sessions as a general rule because unlike other martial arts establishments we are not trying to persuade you to sign a binding 12 month contract. This is the reason most places offer free taster sessions so they can work on you getting signed up to a contract. We are just interested in you learning from day 1.

What methods can i use to pay?

We accept cash or bank transfer for single sessions. For monthly payers we prefer standing order (no chasing late payments) but we do accept cash or monthly bank transfer. We don't accept direct debit as you should have full control of your own bank account. Many martial arts establishments use a third party company for direct debits who will get you to sign a 12 month contract and pursue you to court for failed payments regardless of the circumstances.

Are there parking facilities?

Yes there is a carpark at the back which is guarded by a security gate. This is operated via a phone app and will be opened periodically before and after a training session so people can come and go.

It can be a bit of a pain but the security of our customers and their vehicles is important to us. This is also why it is important to be on time as the gate is opened for approximately 15 minutes before the start of a session.

Do you have a uniform?

No we don't have a set uniform as we know the cost of living is expensive and our priority is training. There are club t shirts available but they are not compulsory. If you want to do gi training then your more then welcome to buy one online and periodically the club gis do become available but they are made to order when the nationwide network of Gordo European clubs all put a large order in together to keep down costs.
